Accommodations
2-Cabin, 2-head layout, plus a third small scale cabin that is multifunctional.
Below decks the feel is light and inviting with raised saloon seating to starboard and a
navigation/inside steering station to port, which takes full advantage of the range of
visibility afforded by the tinted wraparound window that is the signature of designer Ed
Abaft the companionway and down two steps is the spacious aft cabin, which has its
own ensuite head with separate shower stall and superb storage and 32” flat screen TV/DVD. (This cabin meets or exceeds those found on similar sized center cockpit yachts). Forward of the mast there is a traditional V-berth (with seating and hanging locker) with adjacent head and combined shower. (Both heads feature vanities, storage and Vaccu-Flush heads). The owner has added custom mattresses (with fitted sheets and comforters) in both aft cabin and V-berth. Opposite the head there is a third cabin/utility room. (Options for this space included a full-length berth, which compromised some of the forward cabin, or you could gain seating in the forward cabin and limit the space to a children’s size berth, which can also be utilized as a workbench, laundry room or a dedicated office). Currently this cabin features the work bench/small berth with storage cabinets below, but with moderate alterations could be converted to any of the aforementioned options.
One impressive feature, especially for a 43’ boat, is the engine room. The large volume
below the saloon seating provides easy access for servicing pumps, mechanical
systems and the Fischer Panda generator. Entrance is gained via a dwarf door opposite
the galley. There is also direct access over the engine through the cabin sole. Virtually
all of the on board pumps and mechanical systems are at hands reach.
The interior layout sells this boat, not only because of the view in port but also at sea.
The following details are well thought out: the companionway hatch glides up and down
and disappears into its own housing; at the base of the companionway there is a low
level/sunken wet locker; the dining table is hinged in the middle converting for use in
port or at sea; two swing-out stools (added 2008) provide extra seating capability; stainless steel handholds at the companionway hatch; pull-out sliding wine bottle glass locker; expansive storage below and outboard of saloon seating.
The optional hard White Maple interior woodwork is superb and perfectly complements the abundance of natural light let below. Joinery throughout is to a high standard. Fixtures and fittings are of superior quality.

Overview & Comments
The Wauquiez 43 embodies the essence of the Pilot Saloon concept: breathtaking
elegance and high performance – spectacular panoramic vision from the dining and
inside steering/navigation station – easily accessible machinery space – bright and airy
interior – ample and comfortable cabins – good manners, even in rough conditions –
powerful rig perfectly in control of a shorthanded crew. This is unusual for a true blue water capable cruiser.
World-renowned naval architect Ed Dubois created a hull that has a fine bow entry,
which contributes to good upwind performance and directional stability. Assisted by a
flattened bulb keel and a powerful rig, the boat handles extremely well in all conditions.
Sail management is achieved by means of twin furling headsails, self-tacking jib and inboom mainsail. All controlled by electric furlers and winches, via the push of a button.
The interior design was left up to master designer Andrew Winch, whose vision for
space utilization is virtually unlimited. The multi-level floor plan permits an estimated
20% more living space compared to a traditional layout. The Pilot Saloon layout and
wraparound windshield combine to provide a light and bright interior, which in the case
of this vessel, is further enhanced by the choice of the optional hard White Maple wood interior.
Caution: Do not compare this boat to the current Wauquiez production models! There is
no comparison! This vessel was built to a much higher standard! You only need step
aboard to see the difference! (This boat has a PVC cored hull with Twaron – Kevlar
Since Beneteau purchased the company in 2001/2002, the model designations have
changed, the build specifications have dropped and the pricing significantly reduced.
It is truly rare to find a yacht with such versatility. Two very comfortable cabins, each with a centerline berth and private head. In addition there is a small third cabin that is multifunctional. It is presently being used as a utility room with cabinet storage below a workbench, which can also be converted into a berth, suitable for children. With some moderate alterations, this space could also serve as an on board office or laundry room. A true engine room, which is located beneath the saloon, allows access to all of the mechanical systems.
