Having our Sabre 48 Endless Summer in Maryland the past few months has been somewhat difficult in that I have not been able to personally inspect and care for the boat as I normally would. That said, the folks at DiMillo’s Yacht Sales in Annapolis (and especially Steve, their service manager) have done a great job caring for her and keeping things in “show ready” condition.
Within a few weeks of arriving on the Chesapeake Bay in early June, Endless Summer had been shown to a number of local prospects including a few “sea trails”. While nothing came of those June showings, one couple who had seen the boat online and expressed strong interest in email communications with me decided to drive down from New England to see her first hand the end of July. While they currently owned another Sabre Yacht (42′), the custom design and expanded layout of our Sabre 48′ was very appealing and seemed to strike a cord with their cruising desires and plans. And so, after a brief but fair negotiation, we reached an agreement to sell them the boat.
Following an extensive marine survey (and a few items to correct) the deal was closed today. We wish the new owners continued enjoyment and safe passage aboard this very fine vessel.
A special note of appreciation to Chris DiMillo of DiMillo’s Yacht Sales for all his efforts over the past year in bringing Endless Summer to market, hosting her at boats shows and making mulitple trips to Florida to show and sea trial to prospective purchasers. Selling a boat is never easy but Chris certianly made it as seamless and frustration free as possible.
We have a lifetime of memories aboard Endless Summer — including our family, good friends, ports of call large and small, wonderful cities and towns, exciting adventures at sea (some planned and some not), beautiful sunsets, full moons, great food, wildlife, never ending sights and sounds, boat music, loads of fun and laughter.
In closing, our time aboard can best be summed up with the words from the Jimmy Buffet’s song … “It’s Been a Lovely Cruise”.
Drink it up, this one’s for you
It’s been a lovely cruise.
I’m sorry it’s ending, oh it’s sad but it’s true
Honey, It’s been a lovely cruise
These moment we’re left with
May you always remember
These moments are shared by few
There’s wind in our hair and there’s water in our shoes
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise
And those harbor lights, Lord, they’re coming into view
We bid our farewells much to soon
So drink it up, this one’s for you
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise,
Oh darlin, it’s been a lovely cruise.
