(SOLD) 2001 West Bay Sonship
Off Course offers a tremendous layout for a 78' boat. The flybridge, aft deck and pilothouse rival those on much larger yachts. Many recent updates including some electronics, TV's, SAT TV, dinghy motor, soft goods, teak decking, engine updates, canvas and the list goes on.
Preferred CAT engines, bow and stern thrusters, stabilizers, davit and even a hot-tub round out the offerings. Three very comfortable staterooms (no bunks) and exceptional crew accommodations would also make this an ideal charter boat.

Accommodations
Access to the boat is via a swim platform, or Tide Ride boarding ladder. The swim platform leads to a transom door access to the engine room, or port and starboard stairs to an aft deck. The covered aft deck offers dining for eight in a fixed bench seat, upholstered teak chairs (new upholstery 5/12) and a high gloss dining table. The teak decking shows very nice on the aft deck and is new on the swim platform (8/13). Port and starboard wing stations make docking a breeze.
Wide side decks bring you around the boat, ladders lead to the flybridge and side doors bring you to the pilot house. The gelcoat shines, the metal is polished and all of the canvas is either new or recent.
The flybridge has a slider to close off the ladder, a hot tub, crane and dinghy. Forward is a large seating area, with a dining table, two Stidd seats and a wet bar with new U-Line refrigeration and ice-maker.
Access to the interior is through a door/hatch and down a spiral to a galley and pilothouse. The pilot house offers very comfortable, forward facing seating, with dining table, and two Stidd seats, both with cup-holders and chrome bases. The dining table has a leaf extension and can easily accommodate 8 for dinner. The expansive helm was updated with new electronics (2012). There is also storage for computer towers and other equipment, as well as a filing cabinet for service and maintenance records. The large windows and port and starboard doors provide excellent natural light and ventilation.
The pilot house is open to a very functional galley featuring side by side full size refrigerator/freezer, stove and oven, convection microwave, dishwasher and compactor. There is plenty of storage in cabinets below, overhead and in the cabinets on the starboard bulkhead.
Aft of the galley and down two steps is a spacious, well lit, well laid out salon. There is seating for 10 on the sofa, as well as for two more in upholstered chairs. There is a new TV (50" 2012) on a lift opposite the salon, and surround sound. The cherry cabinets offer storage, a bar on a lift, a sink, a U-line wine refrigerator and a U-line ice maker. The windows are dressed with wood blinds and lambriquins. An impressive, double stainless steel door, with integral screens, leads out to the aft deck
To starboard of the pilot house is a spiral leading to a master, two VIP cabins and a laundry area. This unique layout offers three very nice cabins for owners interested with taking multiple guests.
The master cabin, which is forward, offers a full walk around, king sized bed, two large, reach-in cedar closets, vanity and plenty of storage. Aft to port, and down a few steps is a large head with his and her sinks, a toilet with bidet and a tub.
Aft and down to starboard is a laundry room with stacking washer/dryer, storage and counter. Aft, are two equal VIP's with queen berths, port lights, lit, cedar-lined lockers en-suite heads and exceptional storage.
Crew quarters, work room, storage and machinery space is accessed through a transom door. A companionway leads down from the water tight door, and features large storage closets. The cabin offers over/under bunks, a generous head with stall shower and TV. Across the companionway is a work area with multiple over and under counter cabinets, a stainless steel counter surface, and even a separate office area with desk and book case. This area is surprisingly large for a boat this size.
The layout is very functional, practical and usable. It is ideal for entertaining and would make a very compelling charter boat.
